J A Milton has been established since 1989 as Furniture Restorers and became specialists in re-upholstery and making bespoke upholstered furniture.
Joan Milton became involved in teaching upholstery at two Shropshire colleges in 1988. It was then that she discovered how difficult it was for the DIYer or small business person to obtain tools or materials, hence the launch of her mail order Upholstery Supplies Catalogue. The Catalogue has been written for the complete novice, explaining the use of the tools and materials as well as using samples.
Joan has been a professional upholsterer and teacher for 20 years. She is very active in the industry both as a director and as the past president of the Association of The Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishings of which she is a fellow. Joan is a freeman of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers and The Worshipful Company of Upholders in London. We are also extremly proud to hold The Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers Crest and we do everything we can to maintain the high standard of work that it symoblizes
The business that started in Joan's home has now expanded significantly and we keep on growing. Today, we are slowly but surely taking over Ellesmere Business Park! Whilst being based in Ellesmere we do ship all over the UK, Europe and the rest of the world because we know just how hard it can be to obtain excellent quality upholstery products at competitive prices. If you are local, please do pop along as our shop is open Monday - Thursday from 9am to 5pm and from 9am to 4.30pm on a Friday.
