Teacher Roger Newton has been in the trade for 40 years, with a wealth of experience working in some of the best London restoration houses. Our two-day courses are suitable for all levels. If you're going to learn, make sure you learn from the best.

The courses
Furniture Gilding
This Gilding course is a real unique opportunity to learn such a niche skill with such a gifted teacher. On the course you will learn all about the art of gilding and it will cover an introduction of all the tools, the difference between water and oil gilding, the preparation of furniture, how to cut gold and cleaning and reviving old gold.
All materials are provided and you will be working on practice frames. You will also take away your finished project, usually a photo frame.
This furniture painting course is a real unique opportunity to learn such a niche skill with such a gifted teacher. On the course you will learn all about the art of furniture painting and it will cover an introduction of all the tools, preparing pattern boards for marbleising and graining, painting & picking out and lines and dragging
Working on board you will learn the skills that you can then transfer onto furniture, walls, floors, in fact any surface that can be painted.
All materials are provided and you will be working on practice frames. You will also take away your finished pattern boards.
Our new Furniture Painting and Gilding courses are being taught by Roger Newton. Roger is a real expert in his field, having gained over 40 years experience in the industry. He has a high reputation for quality gilding, lacquer and decorative paintwork
Roger will be putting on separate courses for gilding and painting.
Course & booking information Cost
A complete two-day course with all materials and teaching costs from just £90 per day plus VAT. Accommodation is local, costing from £35 per night for bed and breakfast if required.

How to Book Your Lessons:
You will need to book early to avoid disappointment. The cost per day is £90 per day (that is £180 for 2 days +vat charged at the standard rate). Cheques should be made payable to J A Milton Upholstery Suppliers. Payment can also be made by credit/debit card over the phone.
To book courses, please telephone or email for the class date(s) you require. You can pay by credit/debit to secure your place(s) or we can send you out a booking form so you can pay by cheque.

Tuition Terms & Conditions
Please note these conditions are separate to those that may apply to your accommodation
Cancellations
Payment will be required in full for bookings cancelled 14 days or less before the date of the class. However, all efforts will be made to fill the place with another student. On cancellations giving more notice 50% is refundable only if another students fills the places booked.
Liability
J A Milton will not be liable for any work carried out during the classes. All furniture and materials brought onto the premises is there at owner's risk.
