Description
This is how to make the ultimate cushion for comfort and long life. First make a calico cover leaving the top to open up like a lid fixed on the top. Then wrap or layer fillings around this spring unit. The unit is made of fine 2.5 inch diameter springs, wrapped in a non woven fabric it measures 19″ x 22.5″ x 4 inches deep (48.5cm x 56cm x 10cm) or the same measurements by 3″ (7.8cm) deep. Some springs can be removed to make the cushion smaller or tapered but do remember that the final cushion will be bigger overall than the spring unit because it needs to be well wrapped in at least two layers of 4 oz cotton felt. Alternatively it can be sandwiched between foam and polyester or even rubberised hair and cotton felt. If necessary more than one unit can be put together to make a larger cushion.
Place your wrapped spring init your calico case. It should fit quite tightly. Slip stitch the three remaining sides of the lid and voila – the best cushion you will ever make!
