Price and Payment

  • Prices charged will be those ruling at receipt of order. VAT where applicable will be added and shown clearly on your invoice.
  • Goods remain the property of JA Milton until payment is received in full.
  • Payment can be accepted by most major credit/debit cards, BACs or Paypal.

Product Weights and Sizes

All weights and sizes quoted are approximate, especially where metric or imperial conversions have been involved.

Availability

If a product is unavailable, we will contact you by phone or email to inform you. You will be given the option to cancel or amend your order.

Minimum Order

There is no minimum order on many of our products, except for those noted on the descriptions and/or in the grid of individual products in our Product Catalogue. Please contact our Sales office for details.

Items may differ slightly from those pictured in our catalogue or on our website due to availability.

However, where this occurs, every effort will be made to ensure the item supplied is consistent with our standard of quality.

Item Colour

If you purchase the same goods under two or more orders, we cannot guarantee that the goods supplied will be from the same batch and be an exact colour match.

Every effort has been made to reproduce colours in our catalogue as accurately as possible, however, different computers show colours in slightly different ways. In the case of fabrics and braids, it is recommended that you request a sample first.

Items made or cut to order

We rely on the accuracy of the information you provide so please provide accurate and complete measurements.

We are not liable for any incorrect orders resulting from wrong measurements or information given to us by our customers.

Delivery

We now deliver Worldwide. Information about our carriage charges costs can be found in the “Delivery” and “International Shipping” sections of our website. All Products are sold on Delivery Duty unpaid basis.

Cost of Delivery: Delivery is FREE on orders over £120* in most UK areas. Post & Packing costs will be based on the weight and the overall capacity of your order and the delivery area. *Value before VAT

Bulk charges may apply to orders that are heavy or/and bulky. Please note that import restrictions on certain products or materials may apply and can vary between countries. Please check your local customs requirements before placing an order for international delivery. We will not be liable for goods retained at customs or any extra duties that apply.

Mainland UK dispatch is by Royal Mail or a Carrier on a 24 or 48-hour service as appropriate (excluding weekends and public holidays). However, at busy times please allow 7/10 working days for your order to arrive. (A longer delivery period may be quoted for bespoke products or items not in stock) Orders received after 1.00 pm will not be dispatched until the following working day.

Please note that aerosols can only be sent by carrier at the higher carriage rate not by Royal Mail.

Returned Goods/Cancelled Orders

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have the right to return any merchandise, except items cut to size or bespoke/made to order products. All returns must be notified to the Sales Offices within 14 days of receipt of the order and returned within 30 days accompanied by a returns form. *

Only goods returned with prior agreement and accompanied by a JA Milton official returns form can be accepted back for credit. If you do not have a copy please visit https://www.jamiltonupholstery.co.uk/orders-and-returns/ or telephone and we will send a copy to you.  Goods must be received back in a resaleable condition for a refund to be given.

If you choose to return any product to us, you are responsible for the carriage fees, we are not responsible for any loss or damage in transit or due to bad packing, therefore please obtain a certificate of posting if using Royal Mail.

If you wish to cancel your order, please contact us by telephone during office hours. If you have received damaged goods or your goods are faulty, you have 30 days in which to complete your return but please first phone us on 01691 624023 or email us at sales@jamiltonupholstery.co.uk.  In the case of damaged or faulty goods refunds, on return, postage will be given at the basic carriage rate. If an item is too large or bulky for Royal Mail, a courier collection can be arranged; please contact the office in this instance.  

Please note we are unable to accept the return of any goods cut from the roll, cut by the customer or where extra FR treatment has been applied.

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers are not redeemable for cash.

Your gift voucher is valid until midnight on the date written on the voucher itself.

At this time, gift vouchers can only be redeemed on telephone orders.

Your voucher can be used against VAT charges and postage, as well as goods and courses.

You may use your gift voucher and top-up using other methods of payment for items higher than the cost of your voucher.

The gift card is not a credit, charge or guarantee card.

If you choose to return any items that you have bought with a gift voucher (whole or partly) you will be refunded the amount in the form of another gift voucher.

Due to our system, we cannot accept part-payments. Any unused money left on the voucher will become void. 

Additional terms for fabric and trimming orders***

*** The following items only apply to all trimmings, fabrics, leather cloth, faux animal skins (vinyl) and faux suede

All Orders: Please quote the product code, design name and colour number when ordering. All details for orders received verbally will be repeated back and any mistakes will be the responsibility of the customer.

Minimum Order: 3 metres on all orders including trimmings, except where stated otherwise.

Confirmation of Orders: when confirming a verbal order or faxed order by post, please clearly mark the paperwork with “CONFIRMATION” to avoid duplication of order.

Flame Retardant (FR) Treatments: Please state at time of ordering if your fabric is to conform to a domestic FR Standard; conforming to BS5852 Part 1 Ignition source 0 & 1, including BS5651 30 minute soak test.

Unless already stated as complying, on suitable fabrics, a Contract Upholstery FR finish may be available at an additional charge per metre and will conform to BS5852 Part 2 1990 section 4, Crib 5, including BS5651 30 minute soak test.

Most interior and decorative fabrics can be treated for Contract Curtaining or Bedcover use at an additional charge per metre. Contract curtains will conform to BS5867 Part 2, Type B dry-clean only. Bedcovers will conform to BS7175, 1989 section 3, source 0, 1 and 5 dry-clean only.

A tolerance of 5% is recommended to allow for shrinkage.

An additional 10 days for delivery should be allowed on all additional FR services.

Delivery to Third Parties: On request we will deliver to a third party. It is your responsibility to ensure that the order is correct in all respects; including design, fabric type and colour. We recommend that you forward a sample of the fabric to the third party before the fabric is cut, ensuring correct usage.

Before Cutting or Third Party Processing: Whilst every care is taken to ensure your order is dispatched in good condition, before cutting, please check that the fabric is the correct design, colour, quantity and flawless. For double-faced fabric, please ensure that the correct face is used.

Once the fabric is cut we do not Accept Liability or Return of Goods

Colour matching: We cannot guarantee an exact colour/shade match. If this is essential, then a stock cutting is recommended, for approval prior to ordering. Please ensure that on request of a stock cutting, that the fabric is reserved, and that you quote the piece number on the confirmation of order. (Reservation of fabrics can only be held for 10 days)

Pattern Repeats: Although every effort is made to avoid distortion or variance in pattern repeats, occasionally these will occur. Therefore, please ensure that the pattern alignment is satisfactory to produce a good end-result before cutting.

Pattern repeats are shown within this catalogue; however, we cannot guarantee their exact measurement. Please allow a tolerance of up to 3cm.

Shrinkage: All fabrics are liable to shrinkage; therefore it is important that sufficient allowance is made in making up. Shrinkage can be minimised by following the correct cleaning procedures.

Cleaning: All fabrics will have a recommended cleaning method. Please note that spot cleaning should not be attempted; please seek professional cleaning advice if you are uncertain.

Cancellations: Please notify the sales office immediately.

Return Procedures: All returns must be notified to the Sales Offices within 14 days of receipt of goods. We are unable to accept the return of any goods cut from the roll, cut by the customer or where extra FR treatment has been applied.

Ordering Fabric & Trimming Samples

JA Milton’s offer FREE samples – Order FREE of charge up to 5 samples of any fabric. If you require more samples, a £5 fee will apply for any additional samples ordered, with a maximum of 5. This fee is refundable on orders over £30, when you go on to purchase your braid or fabric.
